Vertebrates and Invertebrates Charts & Cards

The goal of the vertebrate and invertebrate lessons in Montessori education is to help children categorize and classify animals into two groups: those with backbones (vertebrates) and those without (invertebrates). This process encourages them to organize information and develop scientific thinking skills.

This includes the following vertebrates and invertebrates: Chordata, Aves, Reptilia, Mammalia, Amphibia, Pisces, Porifera, Cnidaria, Platyhelminthes, Nematodes, Mollusca, Annelida, Arthropods, and Echinodermata.

Includes:

  • 1 color control chart
  • 1 labeled chart (no pictures)
  • 1 blank chart
  • 22 picture cards (to build the chart)

The picture cards can be printed twice and made into 3-part cards. To use three-part cards, match the labels to the corresponding pictures. Verify the matches using the control cards with the labels.

Cards with labels are approx. 3½" x 3¼", cards without labels are approx. 1" shorter, labels are approx. 1". Charts are 8½" x 11".
