Properties of Geometric Solids

The Properties of Geometric Solids Cards aim to help children enhance their understanding of geometry. They do this by introducing the properties of 3D shapes (solids) through a hands-on, concrete approach that bridges the gap between visual and tactile perception and abstract interpretation.

Ideally, these cards should be used alongside actual geometric solids. Children can identify, sort, and classify the properties of these shapes, including their names, edges, faces, and vertices. After classification, they can use the control chart to verify their work.
Solids included: sphere, cone, ovoid, cube, square-based pyramid, triangular prism, rectangular prism, cylinder, ellipsoid, and triangle-based pyramid.

This set includes:

  • 10 geometric solids
  • 3 description cards (edge, face, vertex)
  • 3 illustration cards (edge, face, vertex)
  • 40 labels for sorting (names, edges, faces, vertices)
  • 1 control chart

Cards are approx. 2¾" x 3½", labels are 1" x 2½", control chart is 8½" x 11".
